I live in the South Island of New Zealand and there have been reports here too. I saw one two mornings ago and another two that night, bright white/blue lights moving quite quickly then suddenly disappearing. The sightings are picking up big time now!!
UFO sightings have skyrocketed in the North Island, New Zealand over the past two months.
There have been an "unprecedented" number of UFO sightings reported in the North Island over the past two months, UFO watchers say.
And aliens may even have visited Northland in the past five weeks, with one man reporting seeing a UFO land in the region, Suzanne Hansen, director from Ufocus NZ research network said.
She said: "He's a very credible source. He saw an object that had landed and said it was definitely not an aircraft or like anything else he had seen.
"I've got 30 (UFO/UAP) reports on my desk at the moment from the upper North Island and Northland from the past couple of weeks that we're yet to process [on top of the many others] ... It's unprecedented."
Maungakaramea resident Charles Gillard reported seeing strange lights hovering above the Tangihua ranges just after 4am yesterday.
Mr Gillard said the white and blueish lights were definitely not a helicopter or plane and darted about at speed for several minutes before simply vanishing.
"I've never seen anything like it before, but it definitely wasn't somebody with a torch or vehicles as it was above the skyline, not on the hills," he said.
Inquiries could not find any helicopters or planes operating in the area at that time yesterday morning.
Ms Hansen said Mr Gillard's sighting was similar to others reported recently in Northland and Ufocus would be looking into all such reports made to its website www.ufocusnz.org.nz.
"Researchers we work with in Australia have reported the same things happening there with what we call a "UFO Flap" [an outbreak of UFO sightings] there as well," Ms Hansen said.

I seem to live in the wrong spot to get to see any. Maybe too much airtraffic here for them to risk freaking out pilots. I wish they would post their flight schedules, but then I'd probably be stalking them with cameras all the time lol.
Get that brain into space so it can implant itself as the dal in the coming years.

I am an astronomer myself and even with todays Android and Iphone apps like ' Stellarium' it's very hard for ' normal people' to mistake venus or jupiter for a ufo. Don't think we are all stupid because you didn't evolve as much as we did...

100% agree. If it's moving it's not a star or planet, commonsense really. I don't agree with the idea of people mistaking planets as UFo's. That's just mainstream science BS talk.
Have you ever watched Jay Leno when he goes on the street to talk to people and asks them basic questions and they are completely ignorant to things that should be common knowledge? It is like when Jessica Simpson called tuna "chicken of the sea" and thought it was REALLY chicken.
Those are the people who call in things they do not understand as UFO's
Think of the masses, who have never looked in the sky before and have only seen the MSM news reoprts. Think of people not interested in science or spirituality or any of those things, THEY are the ones who call in things they dont understand as UFO's. And there are way more of them than us.
Also to claim you are more evolved than others because you are aware of cosmic happenings is arrogant. You are no more or less evolved than any other human.

prior to the earthquake in Christchurch there were many ufos seen in theat area.

I just saw another ufo! : )
It's a stunningly clear night and I'd just said to my partner Greg that we should be looking north.
Then I spotted a bright white light directly north of us but very high in the sky and moving quite quickly towards the west. It appeared at about 6:40pm and we watched it for a minute or so before it disappeared.
I've seen a few ufos, often as rapid streaks of light directly overhead (like a very close shooting star only brighter) but I've also watched many distant moving lights. One night last year I watched 3 ufos at once with 2 other people, when someone commented that they were travelling in straight lines the lights started zig-zagging!
