The Sabbath Day

When Yahweh commanded the jews to spend a whole day without doing any work, the priests of those days turned the commandment into some strict, dry rule that is devoid of any meaning. It was perharps put there by some jelous monster up there so he may watch from a crack who might be messing with rules that he may hurl him to hell. Then when Jesus came and said that sabbath was meant for man and not the vice-versa, the pendulum swung hopelessly to the extreem end.In modern times, the christian world is divided into two. There are those that insist that the sabbath law still hold while there those who put the law on the same par with those of slaughtering animals to atone for sins etc. I.e some babaric behaviour of stone age that by who knows how manage to 'quantum tunnel' to the bible, perharps when Yahweh was sleeping.But what if there is a third option eluding both camps? What if we understand the practice of keeping of sabbath holy to be on the same par with prayer, fasting, meditation etc? Then we arrive at a practice that might be of relevance to every spiritual person. Such might be the best way of understanding what Jesus meant by: "sabbath was meant for man and not the vice-versa". I.e it is rather of man's own benefit to at least spend one day per week for purely spiritual purpose.So sabbath realy included a rest from even mandane thoughts. In otherwords sabbath was a day of meditation. This is a bit lost in the modern christian world. The modern church goer hurries to church late and want the priest to quickly go through the ritual. The mind is on banks, prostitutes etc. When the priest shouts halleluyah, he may find himself unwittingly replying 100$!So let me redefine sabbath as 'a period of time fully dedicated to spiritual matters'. So it is not necesarily a day. It can be one hour, one week, one year etc. So you see that to a spiritual person, the 'command' is as relevant as it ever was. Infact, one can say that this is the new testament version. Consider for instance the teaching that the comming 'kingdom of God' is a sabbath day. They say that in the new city, there will be no night. But nights is what we know it to creat days. So there are not many days in the 'new Jerusalem'. It is a single, huge day. It is a sabbath day, no work etc. It is just bliss.:)
