The concept of God is a very hard thing to understand, in my opinion. It's not nearly as simple as one might think it to be. I mean, we could stop right after saying that there's a man in the sky watching everything you do, but I don't feel that that gives the reality of the situation justice whatsoever. At best, it's an oversimplification of something that cannot be measured. God is literally infinity in every sense of the word. To help you better understand this, I'm going to break down some other, simpler concepts first.

We are all one. You've heard this before, though, many of you may not understand the exact implications. There is only one type of life; conscious life and the rules of karma apply for all life in the universe, no exceptions. We are invariably connected to each other. Each of us has the ability to think and do what we want and it's that ability, the ability to create over time, that makes us divine. By existing, we are godly, though we can choose not to embrace our divinity. That is free will. The philosophy behind it being that you should not force someone to mature, but let them find their own way, learning the lessons that they choose to learn by allowing them to make the karmic mistakes that they naturally will so they may better understand the consequences of them. When they finally decide to embrace divinity, it will be because they want to. It will be because they are ready. This is why you have to enlighten yourself. It can't be given, it must be taken.

It is important to understand how personal your connection with God is, regardless of your relationship with him and, in order to do that, you must first understand what God is. You are God. That is, you will be God. At some point in our existence, each one of us will become enlightened to the point where we can exist beyond our reality. As the benefit of infinity is limitless time, at some point we all enlighten ourselves to the point of absolute godliness. In that state, we exist beyond space and time and so looking back on the "current" moment from any point in the future is not only possible, but the reality of the current situation. By this time, we are wise enough to understand that the process of enlightenment is a journey and so our mistakes become landmarks to be celebrated rather than sources of embarrassment. To clarify, that means that when you're praying to God, you're really just praying to the most advanced version of yourself from beyond space and time. But who else is more fit to judge you than one who's experienced what you yourself are experiencing now? Who else could care as much as you but one who has been you?

We understand then that we're each part of God. We are the piece of God that we will eventually become and the rest of God is made of the ensemble of every other life-form in existence. You now also understand why all life is sacred. You also understand why karma exists. It is the hand of God by which balance creates itself. When you act kindly towards another, you're creating love for another part of God. The only justice then, is to have that love given back to you. Understanding this is the first step towards humanity's great leap in evolution; where greed begins to work backwards. You create your own reality by creating the reality of others. So be selfless and relentless in your attempts to make the lives of others easier and your life will be made easy. Show love to all and you will be shown love by all. Give freely and you will always have more to give. This is the divine purpose for which all life was created.
