Well, I believe that the world was "perfect" at some point - it was not on it's axis, and I believe that the whole world was temperate, but something caused the tilt, which caused seasons and ice and the poles, etc.
You know, I remember reading a book, I THINK it was called The Last Book of Adam, when the earth was supposed to be like in a FOG where no rain was needed , and then, somewhere during history, it started to RAIN and it really freaked people out!
