  The question of historicity of Jesus is only relevant because Christianity is intimately tied with the personality of Jesus. Otherwise the same vagueness overtakes all the historical figures of antiguity. For instance, no one knows so much about Euclid. We are not even sure that there were such a person. However, Euclidean Geometry is not contingent on the historicity of Euclid. You can study Euclid's work on Phythagorus theorem and check that it is valid regardless who exactly wrote the proof. Try that one with Gospel and the question of when exactly it was written or whether they was truely such a guy as Jesus becomes relevant!! It should not!!

  Or how do you think, Lisa, if it were war, how would a single guy fight the whole market? Was Jesus a RAMBO, a Jet Lee, Jacke Chan or what?

  Lisa, whence war erupt is not a Christian church. Perharps it is a sinagoque of the devil. Jesus said there is two types of church; the five foolish virgins and the five wise one. He says not everyone who said lord lord will inherit the kingdom of God.
  
  Jesus driving out those who were doing business was not a war. Jesus did not thus KILL or injure anyone. Farther more, christians understand Jesus as to had authority to do that. Jesus is not a pacifist in the sense that even in the last day, he will come with a sworm to smite the nations. However, christians are thought not to imitate Jesus in this sence cause he had the authority to judge.

  The "turn the other cheek" teaching was meant more of to emphasise the need to avoid revenge of any kind than to discourage self protection. There is a dose of wisdom in Jesus's pacifistic stance as opposed to Islam's reluctance in doing away with war altogether-even for self defence. Who after all ever admit that he is in the offensive side??? Go to hell and ask the devils and they will tell you an endless, convincings story as to why they are justified. The tooth for tooth, eye for eye, perpertuates endless conflicts that eventually leave everyone toothless and blind. Then we all lose the battle!
  
  Normally, wars are stired by creating fears and the need to defend one's self. You know? WHAT IF The Sunis have weapons of mass destruction? To the true Christians such false insitings often fall on deaf ears as the only respons valid is to kneel down and pray for peace. They refuse to defend themselves and so the outside insiter, who is not the 'Suni' fails to create a religious war for war cannot realy proceed when one group isn't fighting. So we have indead witnessed the advantages of Christians stance on 'no defence' in many countries.

  I'm a Christian-praise the Lord and pass the ammunition-turn the other cheek means to not continually create chaos and fighting back for nonsense insults etc. and creating more karmic experiences for yourself- we have every God given right to protect ourselves-is there a way I can donate to these brave women so they can buy guns? maybe putin could get 50 caliber truck mounted machine guns  to them

  Christianity is all SPIRITUAL war fare. Christian is not called upon to defend flesh and risk souls. Jesus says:
  
  "Donnot be afraid of those who only kill the body but does no harm to the soul. But be afraid of that which can kill the body and destroy the soul in hell"
  
  A christian is not called upon to defend his body but like Jesus, to sacrifice his body for the sake of the salvation of the lost souls in the world.

  This is not my opinion but what christianity is as plainly laid down in New testament bible. Acusing ME for selling snake oil makes me wonder whether you understand Christianity. I am not a pacifist. However, I need not to justify myself by misrepresenting Christianity. I am NOT a christian.But I understand this religion. It is a SIN unto God to kill your enemy even for self defence! Here is the logic:
  
  "God is NOT happy with the death of an evil person"
  
  He would like a wicked person to leave till he willingly turn away from his wickedness. When he die in sin, he CANNOT enter the kingdom of God. Killing him to prevent murder is trading a SOUL with flesh, hence doing more evil than the one you are trying to prevent!!

  So it is prettly clear. Christianity does NOT preven evil via carnal means. Christians beleive in almighty God who, if he want, will end all the proplems by just a word from his mouth. Because he does not do it, neither do they do it. It is not the christian's duty to prevent evil, it is God's duty and he will do it when time comes. To take this duty in your hands is to loose faith in the protection and the will of God. So true christianity, my friend, does not resist evil.
