I talked with someone whose grandmother was at the UFO crash site of Corona, New Mexico, in July of 1947. They claimed that their grandmother told them that there were dead aliens there, and they brought home pieces of metal for souvenirs. They claimed the metal was like paper, and would fold back into the original shape after being crumbled into a ball. Because they showed this off to a lot of people, word got around.
