These stunning images show mysterious columns of light streaming into the sky above the town of Sigulda in Latvia at the end of last month in 2009 January Taken by designer Aigar Truhins with a standard digital camera, the photographs have prompted excited online discussions among amateur astronomists all over the internet.

Mystery Light Beams Appear In Japan 2012

Dozens of mystery light columns appeared in Japan following a unusual thunderstorm.

Hundreds of people witnessed these rare and frightening phenomena, as fiery light columns appeared in the sky. Eyewitnesses reported, that the light poles appeared immediately after a heavy and unusual lightning storm, lasting several minutes before vanishing. In 1908 just before the Tunguska explosion, similar phenomena occurred, giant pillars of fire rose from the earth to the sky. Many locals are fearful that a major disaster is looming, and that the light columns are a warning of grave danger. The Japanese media has confirmed this story and the pictures are authentic, and come from different sources, just in case you’re wondering.

  just a thought: nasa have been working on space elevator project for some time now http://www.spaceelevator.com/ this ‘space elevator’ a type of space transportation system was mentioned in 1895 by Russian scientist … so far from my point of view ‘every thing that gov., says that they are going to test, has been already done, tested and implemented somehow in reality’ ...

If I was to take a wild guess about this, I would say it has something to do with the magnetics of the earth which are interacting with the planet line ups?

  National Geographic "explains" that light pillars are often caused by artificial light, sun pillars, as in the above picture, occur when sunlight reflects off the facets of millions of flat ice crystals in very cold air ... however i would guess the same way as you Fence Sitter, it has something to do with magnetic field (maybe getting thinner) ... ?
