One Nature Meditation Connecting to Earth and SkyPreparationSit comfortably with a straight back, you can use either a chair to sit on; sit in the half lotus position, or lean up against a tree. You can sit outside in nature, or you can do this indoors. You will feel more connected to nature if you can practice outside, at least some of the time.
Close your eyes and move your attention gently to your breathing, watch your breath going up and down your body, feel the air coming into and leaving your body. If your mind wanders, gently bring your attention back to your breathing.
Meditation Then, as you breathe in, imagine that you are breathing up and up and out through the top of your head and up and up into the skies/ stars / heavens above your head. As you naturally start to breathe out follow the breath back down through the top of your head and down through your body. As you exhale even further, imagine you are reaching down and down into the depths of the Earth. As you naturally inhale again, follow the breath up and up through the Earth, up through your body and up out of the top of your head into the heavens again. Repeat.
Doing this slows the breath right down and connects you to the heavens and to the Earth. There’s no need to force anything, don’t try too hard or strain to hold your breath. You will find yourself breathing deeper and deeper naturally.
EndingBring your focus back to the breath within your own body, notice how you are feeling. Slowly and gently move and stretch your body, then when you are ready, carry on with your day.
