Just a Hello :)

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. The translation of my Sioux name is Song of Wolf but all of my friends simply call me Song. I have been coming to this site for a few months now & I must say that I have truly enjoyed many of the posts. Refreshing to find a site that allows you to be yourself & many different views so I decided to join! Briefly my story....I am 43, born in 1970. I state that because during that time period being different was not looked upon well at all! My mother was white & my father was part American Indian (which was also not looked well upon). My earliest memory was being very young & coming in from the woods around our home carrying a baby bobcat cause it had spoken to me. My mother freaked & that began my 1st lesson that anything "unusual" that occurred would be labeled as me "doing her indian thing" which was bad, wrong, evil, stop doing it now!So I learned to hide everything - all the voices, being able to see, visions, everything. Even in adulthood I tried to turn it all off (which I couldn't). Until the pull was too strong & I took part in my 1st pipe ceremony. I cannot describe how intense it was. The moment I touched the pipe all the chains falling away, like being trapped in a hidious statue & suddenly bursting forth gleaming & winged. So much more than finally being able to say I am indian but being able to say I am everything & it shall be hidden no more!So again, from someone who knows what its like to hide your light, it is wonderful to see a site such as this.     We all have the ability, don't say that you are not. We just have to remember. What an honor that something about my post triggered for you. I've had quite a few "eureka" moments reading posts on here, its why i decided to join. :)

    !!oh my!! That caused a tear, you've no idea! Growing up trying to hide it all there were times it got too much & I would retreat to the woods or my room & They would come, some of my native ancestors on horseback. I would feel the shift in energy, hear the hoof beats & the musical tinkling of the bells they wore & I would start squirming with excitement cause i knew i was going on a journey! Also my grandfather trained horses & I would go with him every Saturday to help. His favorite was a solid white named Sherry. Now when They come visit me, he is there too.
