GEM STONES: How They Originated and Their Properties*****HIGHLY RECOMMEND*****

The Gemological Institute of America, which today stands as the paramount authority in the field of gemology, was founded less than 100 years ago. For thousands of years, however, a sophisticated system of gemology has been practiced in the Orient. This knowledge is recorded in the Sanskrit language in specific Vedic Texts. Most of the principles governing this ancient gemological science are still practiced today, although modern scientific instruments have replaced trained eyes and fingers in the analysis and identification of gems. Th basic methods, however, remain the same.Following are some summary translations of original Sanskrit texts appearing in the Garuda-puranam (chapters 68 thru 80), which pertain to the science of gemology. Due to its age (estimated to be about 5,000 years old), certain information may not be contemporarily relevant.     Good list, but where's Lapus Lazuli??? Where's Moldavite??? My dealer claims Moldavite is the most popular gemstone / crystal in his store, as well as world wide (Hong Kong jewelers are now trying to counterfeit Moldavite).  Your list appears to be aimed at helping dealers in India, especially with Tigers Eye.  I fail to see how Tigers Eye in India is significantly different per properties than Tigers Eye found in other places.

    This info is original from THE GARUDA PURANA ..now those who do not know Garuda is the mystical bird that carries Lord Vishnu all over the Universe more swift then the speed of light.
    Instead of a spaceship this bird Garuda carries Lord Vishnu on its back to any destination in this Universe
