Most people scoff at the idea of selling fresh air in a can. Indeed, how can anyone be silly enough to assume that money can be made simply by selling fresh air and who is going to buy it!
Fresh air in a can
However, there ARE people that will pay good money to buy a little bit of fresh air, and these are mainly people in the likes of Smog covered China. There is surprisingly a market for this unique product due to the environmental issues faced by industrial parts of China.
Chen Guangbiao, a famous Chinese businessman, has created a line of such cans. These are called “Chen Guangbiao: Nice Guy” and costs around $0.80. They sell in China and Taiwan.
”One only has to open the can, directly ‘drink’ it or put the nose close to the can to breathe deeply, ” Chen said. He is confident of success as in such cities where there is a problem; people are breathing in numerous toxins from cars and factories. They cherish the idea of a little bit of fresh air.
But is this not immoral to be cashing in on such a basic human right? Shouldn’t it be the right for a person to breath in fresh, healthy air? Selling these cans is not fixing the problem, just cashing in on it.
The government needs to do something about the pollution problem that is being caused by industry and car omissions. One thing could be to offer large incentives to get people to use more public transport and place tolls on roads leading into major cities to try and discourage drivers. Another would be to have car pool lanes to encourage the use of car sharing.
Industries could be fined for each tonne of pollution they omit into the atmosphere or offered incentives to try and reduce the amount of pollution they cause.
