The French government has just announced that, since security is still the main concern in Paris, we have to cancel the massive march by the weather we had organized there on 29 November.
Very bad news for our members in Paris, who have already suffered enough these days. However, we will be hundreds of thousands of people that we manifest worldwide. And in Paris, people are donating their shoes for us to place along the route that have followed the march as a symbolic representation of their presence.
If we all unite and send thousands of pictures of us holding our shoes - Avaaz will exhibit these images to show them in Paris Parisians are not alone and tell the world that we are all one.

The world's largest climate summit this decade will take place in Paris the day after the march. We have to ensure speak out loud enough for leaders to listen to us before meeting. The energy of time is on our side, but some countries such as India and Saudi Arabia are making disturbing moves to curb global progress. We need a massive global outcry for a world with 100% renewable energy, pressure on those who try to block the deal and encourage countries like Germany committed to not give up.
There will be over 2000 events throughout our global day of action. The objective remains to build the biggest march for climate history. Paris was the biggest of all we planned, but after the attacks, it is impossible to carry out. Again, the actions of a few threaten the well-being of us all. But if we are to live, the situation may change. Humanity is tremendously flawed but in the darkest times is when we make the best of ourselves. On November 29, let our own light shine worldwide. Climate change has catastrophic consequences and the fight to stop it goes far beyond trying to prevent a few hurricanes and a small rise in sea level. Scientists are putting the outcry: we played with the uncontrollable tipping points and feedback mechanisms that endanger the fragile balance of our biosphere that may cause rapid acceleration of climate change - precisely the kind of imbalance that it could mean the end of the course of humanity.
