After my husband's heart surgery, the doctor advised us to do butter, back in the early 90's. He said, If you eat 1TBS butter, it leave your body within hours. If you eat 1 TBS margarine, they can find it in your body 6 months later. The fat in butter, is a fat that the body needs and uses. The calories are the same. It really does taste better. Pass The Butter ... Please.

Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back.

It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow colouring and sold it to people to use in place of butter.
How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavourings....

DO YOU KNOW.. The difference between margarine and butter?

Read on to the end...gets very interesting!

Both have the same amount of calories.

Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams; compared to 5 grams for margarine..

Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.

Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods.

Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few and only because they are added!

Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavours of other foods.

Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years.

And now, for Margarine..

Very High in Trans fatty acids.
Triples risk of coronary heart disease ...
Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)
Increases the risk of cancers up to five times..
Lowers quality of breast milk
Decreases Immune Response.
Decreases Insulin Response..
And here's the most disturbing fact... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING!

Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC... And shares 27 ingredients with PAINT These facts alone were enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated!
(this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).
Open a tub of margarine and leave it open in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will notice a couple of things:
no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something)
it does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value ; NOTHING will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny micro-organisms will not a find a home to grow.

Why? Because it is nearly plastic .

Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?

  • This totally resonates with me...There was an email circulating awhile back in 2003 that claimed that margarine is just one molecule different that plastic and that it is more plastic in composition than food.  I however checked with Snopes and it turned out to be partly false for the most part but partly true as well.  Snopes did point out that the culprit in margarines at that time was trans fats which have proven to be bad for humans.  I debated with a friend about margarine being like plastic and a challenge was put forth to me to prove something to me because when I first heard that plastic claim about margarine I was pretty unsure of the science of it.  I was told to put a small cup of margarine outside for a few days and put a small cup of butter outside and check it in a couple of days...they said if they could be placed near and ant hill that would be even better. With that being said I found an anthill and sat them outside near an anthill just wondering why I was instructed to do so...Nothing had been said to me about the possible outcome...Well two days later I checked on the tubs...The one with butter was black with ants crawling all in it and on it...and cup with margarine had no activity at all.....It seems that the insect population knows instinctively what is good food and what is not and have no interest in stuff with a lot of trans fat content.  That put the debate about margarine being good for humans to consume to rest for me...If the ants that are total food scavengers would not touch margarine then I certainly do not want to...try this test yourself if you have any doubts...I left the margarine cup out for a whole month and no mold grew on it or any micro-organisms at all...Nuff said, lol.

    This post resonates with me completely, although maybe margarine is not necessarily one molecule away from plastic, the garage test is certainly the same conclusion as the test I did.....If the bugs won't touch it why should we.....

    • .........not trying to preach, non , whatsoever,from a vegan point a view.........~ but marg and butter is not very healthy if its not homemade from home raised/ grazed animals in the back acrage/ farm. Most of those 2 products made in processing plant carries not only bad energy of suffering of animals in slaughterhouses but also many chemicals to perserve such product to last couple of months on stores shelf. 

      ......that commercially made marg and butter cant be good for you.
