It was good to hear that scientists have now signed a formal declaration confirming that animals do possess the ability of conscious awareness.
This international group of scientists have signed The Cambridge Declaration on Consciousness in which they agree that animals ARE conscious beings and ARE aware.

These animals include all mammals, birds, and even those animals that are very much unlike humans:
“humans are not unique in possessing the neurological substrates that generate consciousness.Nonhuman animals, including all mammals and birds, and many other creatures, including octopuses, also possess these neurological substrates.”

The research into animal consciousness is still ongoing.
Scientists now know that animals from a wide variety of species experience varying emotions from sadness to grief to happiness and joy.
Anyone with a close relationship and love of animals or nature knows that we are all interconnected on a deeper level and that these non-human beings do genuinely possess a level of awareness.

There is also a great power in these scientific revelations, since it will allow in a deeper respect and compassion for nature and for the animal kingdom in general.
The animal and nature kingdom on Earth will be very grateful if we pay attention to their needs and work in our hearts and minds to protect them compassionately.

I agree that animals are capable of affection, love, and emotional expression. But animals cannot lie. They can masquerade illness to get food from people, they can create false trails to fool predators in regards to their scent, and they can camouflage for purposes of ambush of prey.
But when "black and white" decisions are required for the purposes of obtaining needed food, animals cannot and will not lie in order to get such needed food. This was proven with chimpanzees, and chimpanzees have 98.8% the DNA composition of humans. And this is the biggest challenge to your claim that animals have conscious awareness like humans, since humans are capable of dishonesty and animals are not.
