boyanslat-300x226.jpgAnother young creative mind working towards bettering our world. 19-year-old Boyan Slat has revealed his plans to the world regarding his Ocean Cleanup Array that could remove 7,250,000 tons of plastic waste from the world’s oceans.

The revolutionary device consists of an anchored network of floating booms and processing platforms that could be dispatched to garbage patches around the world. Instead of moving through the ocean, the array would span the radius of a garbage patch, acting as a giant funnel. The angle of the booms would force plastic in the direction of the platforms, where it would be separated from plankton, filtered and stored for recycling.

  • Wonderful post, thanks.  What a wonderful thing this young man invented.  Hope it gets used as there is much need.  As for Nancy's comment in the comments, that is not pertinent to the post per say,,,,but it would be nice to have a way to cleanse one's mind of all negativity and hate and hard feelings, I do agree with that, lol.  And it would be nice too that people not sling out ad hominem arguments against each other, which does, I agree, happen quite frequently.  But back to the OP.  It would be so helpful in cleaning the oceans for sure.  Hope he not blocked from gettng this idea and technology out there for use.

    The plastic doesn't have to be gone for us to bless water like that. It's the same water in both of those pictures, the only thing that differs is the intention put into it. And, Dr. Emoto didn't bless that water. Tibetan monks did that. Emoto was the observer (and of course initiator) of the experiment. :)

    I've tried to bless water like that myself, but I'm far from tuned enough for that yet. My ice-crystals all looked the same no matter WHAT I put into them. I'll try again 2014 though. :)

    @Nancy, interesting project. :)
