The media is already releasing information through the cracks way before hand for years. Certain televised shows, radio stations, internet resources, so actually, ONE DAY for mass media to go viral IS RIGHT. Rumors will be brought to light as truth or lie, and then our president will announce important specifics that will influence the way everyone chooses to take in the enlightenment.
If the world is ascending and 3d earth ending, what is the point of making all these new financial and governmental systems that are only going to last a few months? This is the question that has baffled me for a long time. Also, what is going to happen to those people who do not wish to ascend... are they going to be shipped off planet? Its less than a year to ascention and pretty much everyone is stll clueless as to what is going to actually happen.
I'm baffled with you, Draco. I heard it was so we could experience what we have so far missed in 3D -- that is..... WEALTH! But that doesn't make much sense to me.
As for those who aren't going to ascend--and that's a LOT by some accounts (including mine) they will apparently die in the cataclysms. Nice, huh? Of course, there are others who channel to say that there will not be any major cataclysms. For every thought channeled, there is an opposing thought channeled too. THAT is the one absolute truth on every New Age website. Take the three days of darkness for instance. Please. So more recently we have been told to 'go within' to get our answers. That is all well and good, I like that very much, except that I've been 'going within' for decades and keep coming out with opposing answers even from myself. I have promised my Self one thing though.... on Jan 1, 2013 if everyone else on this site is still waiting patiently for things to happen, I will be gone from here. There had better be mass landings and vastly improved technologies, and Sirians on my television screen by Christmas, or I'm going to assign my journey so far to the compost heap of the Universe. I might even start a new site called The Compost Heap of the Grand Universe. :)

this list of options and "happenings" we already experienced or are manifesting right now but i am always careful as to put any dates or time lenghts for them. Some of the events mentioned above still can't be proven, yet I am an optimist that they are indeed being set in place.( I want to believe )
