And if you live in a small area, e.g. an apartment, you can grow your vegetables in pots, and place them on the balcony, kitchen window, or any available space. One very useful invention in the last century was the FOOD DEHYDRATOR. Collect seasonal fruits and vegetables from your garden or from the supermarket, dehydrate them, and store them in moisture-free, insect-free sealed containers. That way, you'll have enough food to last you for at least six months (late autumn-winter-early spring).
