Better than organic (!)

This post could equally fit under 'environment' and even 'conspiracy theories', at least as far as the US is concerned. If you are an organics buff like me, the title of this post - 'better than organics' - is likely to ruffle a few feathers. But the truth is that while us organic gardeners, growers and consumers have focused (rightly so) on eliminating toxins from our food chain and environment, we have paid little if any atttention to whether the food we produce and consume is actually nutritious. By that I mean - does the food actually provide the vitamins and minerals that we need to be healthy?More and more, I am discovering that my own health issues are due to a lack of minerals, and/or mineral imbalance in my body, and the more I read, the more it becomes apparent that mineral deficiency is a major contributor, if not the root cause, of many diseases. And this is not just in the third world! We are simply not producing food that is nutritious, whether it is 'organic' or not!So, producing healthy food is not just about an absence of toxic contaminants, it's about making sure that the soil plants are grown on is able to provide them with the minerals they need, so that they can provide you with the minerals that YOU need!If you are interested in futher exploring this issue, please follow the link below to a very interesting interview. This info is especially pertinent to growers, gardeners and agricultural producers of all kinds, but awareness of this issue is also important for everyone wanting to be healthy.Enjoyhttp://www.instituteofsocialsurvivalism.org/Main/01_Articles/better_than_organic.htmPS even if you only grow hydrangeas you will learn something from this article! ; )

  • Today I learned I should drink my own urine.

I think I'll also toss some in my vegetable garden.

I've been using OceanSolution in the garden, as well.  Learned about it from Gino over at the Divine Water Project.

  • Very well put! I also wanted to share with you some wisdom I was given to about gardening. It was from a Cherokee Shaman. If you have the time, there are some awesome tidbits!:

    • Thanks for that Morgan, do you mean the bit about putting the seeds in your mouth? Anastasia talks about this too, in the Ringing Cedar series by Vladimir Megre. And also about placing your feet on the soil.
      • Yes! I just received this advice in February. So, this is the first garden I've tried it on. I love the focus, because for me it's just another reminder that something I "can't see" is going on and I should pay attention. Good luck
