It is now becoming obvious to nearly all Americans that the Obama administration is running a pernicious, punitive, selective "shutdown" that's designed to hold the American people hostage until Obama gets his way. His "ransom demand" is total capitulation to his demands for endless spending, the total takeover of medicine by Obamacare, and the centralization of power in the hands of the few. The Obama administration ran a similar gambit a few months back when it started releasing thousands of felony criminals from U.S. prisons, claiming it was forced to do so because of sequestration budget cuts. Today, the Obama administration has barricaded World War II memorials, shut down access to private businesses, closed parts of the OCEAN, closed tourist viewing areas of famous landmarks and gone out of its way to attempt to inflict suffering and inconvenience upon the People of America. It has punitively blocked access to a private hotel and even kicked people off private lands as part of the government's shutdown theater. Preventing tourists from enjoying national monuments American Thinker magazine reports that, "Feds [are] placing cones along highway viewing areas outside Mount Rushmore barring visitors from pulling over and taking pictures of the monument - and then lying about the reason. That's right. The National Park Service is trying to prevent people from even seeing Mount Rushmore." As the Washington Times reports: The Park Service appears to be closing streets on mere whim and caprice. The rangers even closed the parking lot at Mount Vernon, where the plantation home of George Washington is a favorite tourist destination. That was after they barred the new World War II Memorial on the Mall to veterans of World War II. But the government does not own Mount Vernon; it is privately owned by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association. The ladies bought it years ago to preserve it as a national memorial. The feds closed access to the parking lots this week, even though the lots are jointly owned with the Mount Vernon ladies. Just yesterday, the government was caught in a total hoax of faking a shutdown of the Amber Alert website. What the Obama administration wants to keep open, of course, stays open. For example, animmigration rally has just been approved to take place on the "closed" national mall. What's clear from this is that Obama's cohorts will magically open federal lands for their own favored projects while selectively closing federal property for projects desired by the People. I'm hearing more and more rumblings about the looming global financial implosion, and the Fed is furiously trying to print money as fast as it can in order to create the theatrical illusion that the economy is fundamentally sound. The Obamacare delusion is pure theater as well. Virtually the entire national IT infrastructure for the system is non-functional. Online exchange signups are hitting a 99% failure rate. The person that Obama rolled out as a "successful" enrollee turned out to be a total fraud. No one in the media can seem to locate any large number of people who have actually signed up. The White House is now refusing to answer questions asking how many people have actually enrolled(probably because they can't find anyone who actually has). The entire system is a hoax. Underneath the Obama mesmerism and cult followers, there's almost no one who is actually enrolled in Obamacare after millions of people already tried! It's also an IT nightmare. Now in its second week, the Obamacare online exchange system and Healthcare.gov is admittedly suffering from "design flaws" and critical errors. These are far more than mere glitches; this is a wholesale faulty design from the start. This ship ain't gonna sail, folks, and the whole project is going to have to go back to the drawing board to be re-designed from scratch. As the Wall Street Journal reports: Information technology experts who examined the healthcare.gov website at the request of The Wall Street Journal said the site appeared to be built on a sloppy software foundation. Such a hastily constructed website may not have been able to withstand the online demand last week, they said. Americans are fed up In many ways, you are now watching the final act of government theater. It's not over 'til the "fat lady sings," as they say, but she's most definitely warming up and preparing to belt out her final operatic performance. Millions of Americans are completely fed up with the shenanigans of bad government. They've had it. Coming up in a few days, thousands of truckers are about to converge on the highways in D.C. and shut the roadways down. They're even threatening to arrest traitorous members of Congress who have violated their oaths of office. Conservative talk show host Mark Levin is now warning that Obama is running what is essentially a "coup" to overthrow the Constitution and remove Congress from all future spending decisions. This effectively turns the office of the President into a dictatorship. Congress will become nothing more than a useless vestige of the old republic. Even other nations are starting to worry about the impending collapse of the U.S. government and its debt. China issued a stern warning today, urging America to "ensure the safety of the Chinese investments" by making sure the U.S. doesn't go into default. China, you see, holds hundreds of billions of dollars in U.S. debt. And it doesn't want America to go belly up anytime soon (although China surely knows it's headed that way sooner or later). Obama's position is that the U.S. should be indebted even more to China, Japan and the rest of the world. That's why he's demanding the debt ceiling be raised. The problem with socialism, of course, is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money. But there's a lot of damage that can be done until that day of reckoning arrives, so Obama and his cohorts are going to suck the finances out of the entire global economy to fund their socialist programs such as Obamacare, Obama phones, the fast-expanding government food stamp program, and any other popular giveaways they can dream up. Remember: This is all being done to enforce a rip-off, monopolistic health care nightmare -- the Affordable Care Act -- that's so unpopular, Obama has to hold the entire nation ransom in order to try to shove this monster down people's throats. The end of government credibility What you are really watching here, folks, is much more than merely the last act of government theater: You are watching the end of government credibility in the minds of the American people. The idea that government functions as an institution "for the People, by the People and of the People" is now a cruel joke. Chicago citizens to be exposed to alarming levels of lead from city water as old pipes get upgraded

It's bad enough that the city of Chicago is facing financial problems similar to those of Detroit; now, local taxpayers are being forced to pay for being poisoned.

For decades, the city installed lead water pipes, but in recent years, the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has discovered a problem that has been tainting the water supply. Per the Chicago Tribune:

Dangerous levels of lead are turning up in Chicago homes where pipes made of the toxic metal were disturbed by street work or plumbing repairs, according to a new federal study that suggests the city's aggressive efforts to modernize its water system could inadvertently pose health risks.

Once it's in the water, lead tends to stay there for years

The city installed its lead pipes until the 1980s when connecting water mains to homes. EPA researchers say levels of lead can leach into homeowners' tap water when the pipes are disturbed by street work or altered by water main replacements and meter installations.

What's more, high levels of lead can be found in tap water for years and years afterward, according to an EPA study. And that has raised fears that the contamination could be occurring in other U.S. cities that utilized lead water main pipes.

And of course, homeowners are in the dark about potentially drinking contaminated tap water, because under federal regulations, utility companies are rarely required to warn users when work is being done or inform them that they need to take measures to limit their exposure to the lead. "A potent neurotoxin, lead can damage the brains of young children, lower IQ and trigger learning disabilities, aggression and criminal behavior later in life," the Tribune reported.

Indeed, lead is so hazardous that the EPA as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have said there literally is no safe level of exposure. Lead has long since been phased out of regular and unleaded gasoline, taken out of paint and banned from children's toys.

However, lead pipes were widely used last century, and that's created a large and growing problem around the country.

"We owe it to people to tell them that their water might not be safe to drink," Marc Edwards, a professor of civil and environmental engineering at Virginia Tech University who was not involved in the EPA study but has come to similar conclusions in his own research, told the Tribune.

A separate report on the website Chicagoist reported that the EPA study "found lead levels far higher than the 15 parts per billion federal limit were more likely to be found in Chicago homes where street work or water system work disturbed old pipes, and that the levels can be found in water for years after initial detection."

Furthermore, the site reports, "City officials are telling homeowners to run water from faucets for 3-5 minutes and to remove aerator screens from faucets to clear out any sediment. The EPA says that should be done every time a faucet hasn't been in use for several hours."

Earlier research confirms the lethality of lead in water

Werner Troesken, of the National Bureau of Economic Research, laid out the massive problem of lead pipes in general in a 2003 working paper. He says that by 1897, about half of all American municipalities used lead water pipes - and that the pipes had a definite effect on mortality rates.

In his paper, he used data from 1900 Massachusetts to reach these findings:

In the average town in 1900, the use of lead pipes increased infant mortality and stillbirth rates by 25 to 50 percent. However, the effects of lead water lines varied across cities, and depended on the age of the pipe and the corrosiveness of the associated water supplies. Age of pipe influenced lead content because, over time, oxidation formed a protective coating on the interior of pipes.

Understanding the phytochemical power of turmeric

Sometimes called Indian saffron, turmeric is an ancient Ayurvedic medicine that has been used for centuries throughout Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Each constituent has many health benefits, but they also work synergistically together, making the whole herb more powerful than any singled out ingredient on its own. When using the powder, there is little to no essential oil. This is of note because some researchers believe that some of the health benefits come from the oil. Dr. Sanjay Gupta apologizes, admits cannabis is a healing plant that should be legalized

But CNN's Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta has done just that, having recently published a formal apology renouncing his role in denying the medical legitimacy of cannabis, also known as marijuana, and urging lawmakers to decriminalize the natural plant, or at the very least remove it from the Schedule I controlled substances list.

As a foreword to the release of his new documentary Weed, Dr. Gupta issued his apology alongside a summary of what brought him to this newfound conclusion that marijuana is beneficial. Citing extensive research dating back to the 1800s, when marijuana was actually recognized as a legitimate medicine and prescribed for conditions like neuralgia, convulsive disorders and emaciation, Dr. Gupta makes plain copious evidence that proves the legitimacy of marijuana.

"We have been terribly and systematically misled for nearly 70 years in the United States, and I apologize for my own role in that," writes Dr. Gupta about the manufactured social stigma that has kept marijuana as an illegal substance in the U.S. for nearly 45 years, of which he was a part. "I mistakenly believed the Drug Enforcement Agency listed marijuana as a schedule 1 substance because of sound scientific proof," he adds, noting that he later discovered no such scientific proof exists.

In fact, marijuana first became illegal in the U.S., after being legal and in widespread use since the country's founding, by the way, due to the deception of one man by the name of Dr. Roger O. Egeberg. The Assistant Secretary of Health at the time, Dr. Egeberg wrote a letter on August 14, 1970, recommending that marijuana be reclassified as a Schedule I substance. In this letter, Dr. Egeberg did not cite evidence showing that marijuana was in any way dangerous, but instead claimed that an alleged lack of science warranted placing marijuana on the most dangerous substances list.

"Not because of sound science, but because of its absence, marijuana was classified as a schedule 1 substance," explains Dr. Gupta, adding that Dr. Egeberg simply chose to ignore the plethora of research that was available at that time to show that marijuana is, indeed, safe.

Marijuana has never killed anyone, and has been used as a safe medicine for centuries

One of the most common claims against marijuana, and one that is thankfully becoming increasingly regarded by the general public as an unfounded myth, purports that marijuana is highly addictive and leads to abuse of more dangerous substances like cocaine and heroin. As it turns out, quite the opposite is true, as research commissioned by former New York Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia back in 1944 found that marijuana is neither addictive nor the "gateway" drug that some people claim it is.

If safety is really the issue with marijuana, then substances like tobacco, alcohol and prescription drugs should all be classified as Schedule I drugs. Prescription drugs in particular are among the most dangerous substances currently available, as they kill one person in the U.S. every 19 minutes, according to Dr. Gupta's research. Meanwhile, there is not a single recorded death from marijuana anywhere in the historical record.

But Dr. Gupta has high hopes for the future of marijuana, despite all the existing hurdles that bar not only widespread legalization but also legitimate research from taking place.

"Looking forward, I am especially intrigued by studies like those in Spain and Israel looking at the anti-cancer effects of marijuana and its components," he concludes. "I'm intrigued by the neuro-protective study by Lev Meschoulam in Israel, and research in Israel and the United States on whether the drug might help alleviate symptoms of PTSD. I promise to do my part to help, genuinely and honestly, to fill the remaining void in our knowledge."

Russia considering total GMO ban

The Russian government has ordered all relevant agencies to examine whether or not to continue imports of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) into the country.

According to reports, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev ordered the action, directing the agencies to make their recommendation by October 15.

Per the website GM Watch:

The order is addressed to Rospotrebnadzor, the Health Ministry, the Agriculture Ministry, and the Trade and Economic Development Ministry. They are ordered to "submit proposals on amendments to the Russian legislation aimed at tightening control over the turnover of products containing components obtained from GMOs together with the relevant federal executive bodies."

'Russia is currently taking a hard line on GMOs'

The Russian agencies have also been instructed to submit proposals "on the possibility of banning the import of such products into the Russian Federation."

Medvedev's order came after a similar directive was issued by Russian President Vladimir Putin following a meeting on the socio-economic development of the Rostov region Sept. 18. Medvedev's orders were posted on the government's website and reported by the Russia-based Interfax News Agency.

"Russia is currently taking a hard line on GMOs - in August the first independent project for identifying whether Russian farmers are growing illegal GM crops started in the Belgorod region," GM Watch reported.

Russian authorities have been on the lookout for illegal GM crops. Recently, the country's National Association for Genetic Safety (NAGS) conducted its first checks of crops for the presence of GMOs, but none were found in any Belgorod fields.

"We remind you that currently, according to the law in Russia, 19 GM lines are allowed in foodstuffs, but the cultivation of GMOs is not allowed," said GM Watch.

After its admission into the World Trade Organization, Russia became obligated to simplify the procedure for registering GM crops, products and feed, seek to stop their safety checks and end controls over their distribution, the GM Watch site reported.

A year ago, as Natural News editor Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, reported, Russia banned all imports of GM corn, following an earlier study by French researchers which showed that rats grew massive cancer tumors when fed a lifetime of Monsanto's genetically modified corn.

"The Russian ban is the latest blow to Monsanto, a company desperately clinging to the myth that its genetically modified crops are 'no different' than traditional crops and therefore long-term safety testing is completely unnecessary," Adams wrote, adding that Monsanto criticized the French study but did not duplicate the duration of it in its own testing. French researchers conducted their study over a two-year period, while Monsanto's study lasted only 90 days.

It's not just Russia being Russia, folks

Other nations have also moved to ban GM foods:

-- Earlier this year, Peru joined Ecuador as the second nation in the Americas to ban GMOs. Local Chef Pedro Miguel Schiaffino summarized the country's rejection by recalling his decision to stop eating store-bought Roma tomatoes: "They're a big monoculture, which is why people usually end up using GMOs. Because when you have monocultures, the crops end up getting diseases, and you have to look for these extreme ways to fix them." Peru, the cradle of the once-great Inca Empire, is the birthplace of the crop, so it says much about a country where you can grow virtually anything to give up GM crops.

-- In June, South Korea joined a Japanese ban on U.S. wheat imports following an announcement by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration regarding GMO contamination. Again, Adams was all over it: "...South Korea joined Japan in announcing a halt on imports of U.S. wheat due to the USDA's recent announcement that commercial wheat grown in the USA is contaminated with Monsanto's genetically engineered wheat."

-- In August, the French government announced that, despite a ruling by the French Council of State that the longstanding ban violates European Union (EU) law, it would extend its current moratorium on the cultivation of Monsanto's genetically modified corn.

Four tons of possibly contaminated rainwater has leaked during a transfer of radioactive water between tank holding areas at Fukushima, the operator of disaster stricken Japan’s nuclear plant said.

A spokesman for Tokyo Electric Power Co (TEPCO) said heavy rain during a recent typhoon has flooded one of the tank holding areas. It stores excess water which has been flushed over damaged reactors to keep them cool, Reuters reports. 

After tests last month showed the rainwater contained 160 becquerels per liter of radiation, a relatively low level, the Fukushima operator decided to transfer the water to another holding area for tanks, he said. 

One of the workers found the leak during the transfer, with the water being absorbed into the ground. TEPCO estimated the amount of leaked water at around 4 tons, the spokesman added. 

The company has been pumping hundreds of tons of water on a daily basis over the Fukushima reactors to keep them cool, with radioactive wastewater then being stored in underground tanks. 

In August, TEPCO said at least one of those hastily built tanks has leaked around 300 tons of radioactive water. High levels of radiation were also found just above the ground, suggesting widespread structural problems with the tanks. 

Fukushima is likely to face more heavy rain in the next few days, with another storm expected to hit Japan on Wednesday, the forecast by US Navy Joint Typhoon Warning Center said.

Meanwhile, South Korean Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Yoon Jin-sook has slammed Japan and TEPCO for earlier attempts to downplay and cover up the facts of contaminated water leaks at the crippled nuclear facility. 

She said Tokyo’s “absurd” actions have affected the South Korean fishermen, adding that it was the country’s duty to inform its neighbors that it was planning to contaminate the ocean by releasing hundreds of tons of radioactive water into it. 

“We wondered if we had to protect such immoral people under diplomatic protocols, and so we did it [by placing an import ban on Japanese fishery products] as soon as we could,” Yoon is cited as saying by Japanese Daily Press. “We did not know that Japan would let the contaminated water leak. We thought ‘this cannot be allowed while our people’s fears were growing.’” 

In September, South Korea has introduced an import ban on all fishery products from eight Japanese prefectures near Fukushima due to possible health risks to the country’s consumers. 

TEPCO had recently reversed its denials and confirmed reports that Fukushima is leaking radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean. The operator plans to allocate around $500 million towards purifying the radioactive water and freezing the soil around the station in order to cope with the leaks. 

The Fukushima plant has suffered triple nuclear meltdowns and hydrogen explosions since it was hit by an earthquake, followed by a tsunami, in March 2011.

Thanks FW for sending me this tip. I have been sick and so not much on the net anymore. But this one from Cobra is another False Flag Folks. Same ol ,same ol- Hog wash. No proof, no pics, only a continuation of the dame old story that never changes.
