My first meditation session since about 8 months ago, feels familiar. 20 minutes of counting 4 breaths over and over while letting go of any sensations, thoughts or sounds, although the sounds of the neighborhood and the fan in the room come to have a peaceful quality to them - even the loud dog barking across the street seems to be something peaceful that is easy to let go of. I use to do 15 minutes at a time but I've decided to up that to 20 or more. I set my stop watch on my blackberry for 20 minutes and that time went by quicker than I thought it would. Even though I sure wish I hadn't quit doing this last year, it feels like I can pick up where I left off.
