i have thing about creatures of the night. once when my kids were little and i was staying at home with them, we had a family of great horned owls decide to raise their young in our back yard. during their day, i was their protector. whenever crows would flock around them and try to harass them when they were resting, i would shoo the crows away. and the owls would just sit there and watch me. over the weeks they would let me get closer and closer and one night, they gifted me with the name of "nighteyes." not long after that, the adults flew away and left the two kids to make it or break it on their own.
