Who's there?

I was sleeping in my chair the other day in the half asleep/half awake mode. I was home by myself. I felt a male's presence walk behind my chair. He said hi to me using my name. When I opened my eyes, no one was around. Do spirit guides often do this?

I have had a similar experience, a man's voice said loudly, 'Heather' and no one was there!
