  From the people in the Church i know a Jewish midrash that says that the so-called Satan was once an archangel. His name was Sataniel (I don't know if it's spelled correctly) and he was the strongest archangel. All angels should bow before the God created Son of Man. Yet refused to do so and said he would not bow to the dust or earth. Immediately he was banished from heaven like lightning and thrown to earth. From now on he was always jealous of people.
