Should the first manned mission to Mars be all WOMEN? Females need fewer resources so the trip is easier, claims expert:San Francisco writer says the first mission to Mars should be only womenKate Green for Slate took part in a simulated mission to the red planetShe found that women needed much less resources than menMost women burned less than 2,000 calories per day, but men regularly exceeded 3,000 caloriesMs Greene says female astronauts, with typically smaller bodies than men, would thus be better suited for an expensive mission to MarsTo date, the overwhelming majority of astronauts have been men, with Russia as an example only recently sending a woman to space after an absence of female cosmonauts for several decades. But the first manned mission to Mars should be all women, a science writer who took part in a simulated mission to the red planet has claimed. She says that females require a lower calorific intake than men and thus need fewer resources, making an all-women mission to Mars cheaper and more feasible. The argument was made by San Francisco-based writer Kate Greene for Slate.Last year she took part in a Nasa project called Hi-Seas (Hawaii Space Exploration Analog and Simulation), which simulated a long-duration mission to Mars on Earth.Ms Greene and five other crewmembers - three men and three women in total - spent four months in a dome on Hawaii, only leaving the habitat in mock spacesuits.Read More plus See Photos @http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2801345/should-manned-mission-mars-women-females-need-resources-trip-easier-claims-writer.htmlHow will we land astronauts on Mars? • mars needs women.   that was the title of a movie....

  • Well, I just wish that people would realize balance between the sexes causes the least problems. I guess we can learn quicker from suffering through being out of balance in the female or male end of the spectrum, but it's naive to think you can cubby hole a sex on one or three aspects. They do it differently and together they compliment each other. Those differences are not weaknesses or strengths that show one is better or worse in general, they are the points at which one sex compliments the other sex. I'm amazed and appalled at how easily people are willing to be sexist and not see that.

  • yeah but they may run out of tampons and then what ?

    • ..Yea.... Lets Not Forget The Extra Tampons Girls....lol..

  • Why would anyone assume females need fewer resources? Isn't it usually the other way around...

  • When all the women are on Mars then I will go there
