  • me too Luke ... ;) often confuse the two ... ;))

but then sometimes a few examples comes to mind to differentiate the two:

"what saddens me to see cruelty when one human being hurts another'

"what makes me depressed is "lack of money" and "unfulfilled desires"" ... ;)) ...

  • Yep... crocodile tears and sobbing comes from a deep sadness for sure.  Thank you for your response Luke.

  • i feel u

  • I have had similar feelings of unbounded sadness, coming from no perceivable source. IT can be overwhelming and I tend to slip into bouts of depression now based on experiences. Something "negative" happens, i retract due to it, then must remember the lessons I've learned. I think that it is an ongoing and everlasting fight. Those who are depressed often view the world differently, they see it as it truly is. People who are not depressed tend to just accept the worldview we are prescribed. SInce those who get depressed are constantly in view of the truth of the world, it is easy to slip back into the comfortable sadness.

When this happens one must remember the truth about their being, that this is temporary, all life is a lesson, and we are infinite eternal souls here for but a moment.

    • to me and in my experience  ... ;)

Depression is a respond of the mind to circumstances of life - that's why it's called 'mind disorder' or 'mental illness'.

Sadness is emotional state of being - or respond or way to show suppressed feelings or emotional pain and rising up to the surface, it's kind of 'forcing' to FEEL, if ignored for too long and not to think at that moment (the mind is quite) Sadness also comes as a phase or some would say as 'a dark night of the soul' - growing up and letting go, getting lost and find some thing else. It comes when somebody is exhausted emotionally so one is overwhelmed with it - and then one start to cry ...

      • Thank you Ara, yes I see the difference you have presented. It is a very good point, it would seem much is rising to the surface as you have stated.  I do feel that crying is a good releasement for all of us..I don't think it's makes us weak when we cry a little to me it shows we are human and we care.

        • true ... crying is good, you know i see ourselves like a cabbage with so many layers to go through to get to the core ... first we grow from the seed, to become a cabbage, and now we have to go back to the core, too much superficial things around, that takes our attention away from US and in the process so much energy wasted, to regain it back is challenging, but it does need time and patience. We do need lots of personal energy to achieve anything in life as everything is energy.

Don Juan Matus was explaining how people interact with animal world without fully understanding it: the snail crossing the road (it took so much energy for the snail to cross it) and then human moved it (thinking helping) but in reality harming more then helping ... i don't know if it makes any sense regarding to your post ... what i am trying to say is most extreme emotions do come from something that we supposed to do, putting lots of personal energy into it and we didn't do it  - too many time in life for whatever reasons ... which created some kind of circuit in our being and then the feelings comes ... ;))

          • Yeah, Acute Observer mentioned some like that in that it's like we give our energies away to vampiric energies. Many distractions can do this for certain. I like your analogy about the cabbage core and that will take some pondering for sure.  Thank you dear sister.

    • Much appreciation for your message. Perhaps their is some truth in this statement "People who are not depressed tend to just accept the worldview we are prescribed."   Yes, we are infinite eternal souls.... thanks!
