Yes, I've wondered it myself... sometimes I think it is just the times we are in, the kali yuga playing out... and I remember what it was like before I woke up, a sort of narcolepsy of the spirit.  I realise now it was growing pains, I hope that humanity has a mass awakening experience, I've studied kundalini a bit, it's certainly possible for all humankind to have a eureka moment together. 

I know some very enlightened young people though, activists and earthkeepers who are awake, so I have hope that we are passing the torch and joining with hopeful and energetic souls.  Of course there is the other side of the coin, we see that alot in crystallized thinking for our society. 

It's likely too that we are in a rush for healing, which involves throwing ourselves into repetitive dramas to clear energy before the big event... and let's face it, not alot of people have been taught to think for themselves in this society, and faith is not shared without mockery even on sites like this, spiritually is regarded with suspicion. So the people have little foundation on which to grow.

Short as it is your post is a great one for discussion, I've been reading your comments to people and I resonate with much of what you've been saying in them..the purpose of life is to experience it. Living life one finds that time is impartial for the future is predicted by the present and the foundations of the past are laid down by the present. So one's state of mind creates an individuals reality. If your mindset is that of being positive but realistic you should be on the happy side of the spectrum. Expecting misfortune sets you up for deep unresolved issues which will never be resolved if one doesn't have the time to think about his life.,the point of accepting things that go wrong is that you have no control over those things. its wrong to have expectations because random things happen all the time. another thing to think about is everything thats happened has caused this to happen, it couldnt have happened any other way. One last thing that might help you is regreting what has already happened doesnt improve or help anything, the key word being regret, why have regret in your life if you dont have to? instead try thinking of learning from mistakes and accepting that people make mistakes, no one is perfect,I always say that Im perfectly imperfect & accepting that is accepting being human, regreting the past is pointless,all emotions are normal and as far as nature is concerned cannot be avoided.

I think that is your perception of what people think about themselves, but in truth I think many people have a deep awareness of themselves, and work very hard to make sure their life has meaning.
