"cabin" it's a soft word, associated with a calm protector environment as a "cabin in the woods" but who  knows who decided to name a gun "carbin" associating that environment to that weapon. So the key is to disassociate the concept attached to it.

The Military is a giant Powerful death machine, and everyone who feels like they're noone wants to be a part of something bigger, and they're attracted to the military because they want to be feared. :P

no! I demand another hamburger! Rabble Rabble Rabble Rabble Rabble!

the start of the *gun* history was in china, the chinese invented gunpowder... it was originally used to treat skin infection... then all of a sudden someone had a bright idea in the ARMY...

& u guessed it,  the rest is history ;)

black holes are portals? :P

Yes brother, War has always been drilled into us at an early age as being "ok". War, is in the Old Testament. It took such things for our own country to be formed independent from the British who wanted the world.

I was raised in the Church for my parents were strong believers. At that time, there was only black and white TV. My father was an ex- Marine. I did not even know that Vietnam was going on in the world. However I do recall watching shows as a kid (because my father enjoyed them) such as Rat Patrol, Combat, Twelve O' Clock High etc. and many of the Classic War Movies came out during that time.

In my childhood, we didn't have much for toys. Toy guns, plastic army soldiers etc could be found in most homes. Sadly, you are correct in your comment my brother. We can only look forward to the day that we all live in peace!

Well I'll tell you why I was attracted to it when I was younger, I was attracted to it because I thought war was cool, being a warrior is what made a man a man, peace and love were for weaklings, and...war was the ultimate thrill. It was the ultimate game, where your life was literally on the line. and you were one wrong move away from death. It's a great test of will, of wit, of strength, speed and intelligence...and you can't lose or you'll end up dead. Basically it's one big power trip. It's hard to explain really, but it's a thrill, it's a rush, it's an adventure....it's I'm bigger, stronger, smarter, better than you.

I spent a good chunk of my life in a warrior mentality, and prided myself on being the best warrior around. Not just in terms of combat, but in strategic planning and coordination. I was a great soldier and a great general. And I spent a long time like that. But eventually...you grow up...you connect with your heart more...and you start understanding how war is just an ugly thing, there's no real winners...all the glory of war is way overshadowed by the horror and misery. Especially if you're on the losing side.

Eventually you start seeing yourself in your enemy...and you feel an empathy, it's that connection to oneness and love. That's really the heart of it. War is the greatest example of separation..and the more you connect to oneness, the less inclined you'll be to engage in any kind of conflict. But it has to be genuine, it has to be a real feeling of oneness and love...not pretend. Don't do it because you want to have a status as an evolved being, or out of judgment for that type of thing....you do it because you have a deep organic feeling of love and unity. Why do it for any other reason, be real about it.

so you're saying war should be a sport.... but war really doesn't accomplish anything for the people fighting in it

I think eventually it will be like that lol But sports is just a fun, civilized form of war. And sometimes it's not so civilized lol But it's the same principal basically. Win, be better than the opponent, compete...the thrill of competition, the uncertainty and striving to win and not lose, to live and not die....the battle of wit, speed, intelligence, endurance, skill and ability. At the heart of it, it's a big ego and power trip, it's a superiority-inferiority contest.

And I was into sports too lol I loved sports, especially basketball..and I prided myself on being the best basketball player around. I had to be better than others, I had to be at the highest level of excellence I could be, and if someone was ahead of me, I had to surpass them. Because God forbid I feel inferior. And that's at the heart of sports, and war.

Adrenaline , Ego , Power-Trip , I despise all of that , Passionately Hate all of that BS :)

Albert Einstein : Heroism on command , senseless violence , and all the loathsome nonsense that goes by the name of patriotism - how passionately I hate them !

Yin - Yang btw guys , we all have Girl+Boy , Good+Bad in us etc , gotta find a balance before we trip and fall for good :)

Peace 4eVeR

Well I wouldn't want you in my squad if we ever had to do battle lol No offense :)
