"If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream- -and not make dreams your master;
If you can think- -and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on! '
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings- -nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And- -which is more- -you'll be a Man, my son!
“There is no such thing as a good influence, all influence is immoral – immoral from the scientific point of view”
To influence a person is to give him one’s own soul. He does not think his natural thoughts, or burn with his natural passions. His virtues are not real to him. His sins, if there are such things as sins, are borrowed. He becomes an echo of some one else’s music, an actor of a part that has not been written for him. The aim of life is self-development. To realize one’s nature perfectly – that is what each of us is here for. People are afraid of themselves; nor trust themselves, nowadays. They have forgotten the highest of all duties, the duty that one owes to one’s self. Of course they are charitable. They feed the hungry, and clothe the beggar. But their own souls starve, and are naked. Courage has gone out of our race. Perhaps we never really had it. The terror of society, which is the basis of morals, the terror of God, which is the secret of religion – these are the two things that govern us … and yet – “ Oscar Wilde (1891)
They hand over all their own power and influence to others. There is no such thing as trusting oneself for the most part. Just follow your own path. Know thyself!
But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Do you trust yourself Panacea?
and what exactly does it mean "know thyself"?
my recent events showed me that i don't know anything, my 'spiritual journey began for me when i was 16 quite a long journey (at that time there was no internet) even to get a book it was difficult, so i had a spiritual master who shaped my perception according to him, even thou it was Universal approach - but still ... look what is happening now ... even worse what it was before ... there is a little room for individual to 'know thyself' ... or perhaps its even bigger illusion - can you really know?
I do use a lot of information from other sources but only to back up what I already know. ;) It is a lazy way of not putting all that work together, I use the matrix to my advantage, ha, ha!
there is a saying that in ignorance people are lost, but in knowledge they are lost in a deeper way. Ignorance misguides, knowledge misguides more. You have to become aware that knowledge is a false coin – it is not knowing, it is not understanding. At the most it is intellectual – the word has been understood but the sense lost. Knowledge is ugly, and if you go near scholars you will find them stinking – of knowledge – dead. A man of wisdom, a man of understanding, has a freshness about him, a fragrant life – totally different from a man of knowledge. One who understands the sense becomes beautiful; one who only understands the word becomes ugly.
It is hard to communicate through words on the internet because a lot of misunderstanding occurs. Like most things it is better experienced in the flesh. I am not that knowledgeable like a dry academic...more like a maverick mad scientist. Seems more interesting, hidden alternative knowledge! All I know is I know nothing.
that's good, i do feel as i am mad woman ... ;)) or a 'seed' looking for the right environment; strange times, self - discovery seems eternal even when nothing happens around.
Plenty is happening!
