An estimate of the probability that someone in THIS century will be born with a life path of 33 is .00178%!!!
This is about the rarity of Life Path 33, and I am looking for some insight from others who study numerology or at least are curious about it to please help me understand the significance of the life path of 33. (or even just the number 33 in general) Do you buy it? Do you not?
The reason why I find it so intriguing is #1) I'm a math dork and I found that it is nearly impossible to have a life path of 33 #2) I have a life path of 33 and never knew it until a couple months ago and am now intrigued.
For those of you not too familiar with numerology, PLEASE READ below, if not move on to the Master Number "33" :)
The birth path number, which suggests your overall path in life and place in the world, is based on your complete birth date. All you have to do is add up the digits of your birth data, and keep "reducing" to a single digit.
So if your birthday is 8/4/1972, then your birth path number is 8 + 4 + 1 + 9 + 7 + 2 = 31 --> 3 + 1 = 4
(your birth path number is 4!)
However, some numbers do not get reduced..and these are the products of 11..so 11, 22 and 33. In Numerology, these numbers are considered Master Numbers. The number 11 is a 2, but it is considered a higher vibration of the number 2. Similarly, the number 22 is a 4, but it is a higher vibration of the number 4 and 33 is a 6 but a higher vibration than that of 6. [supposedly]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Master Number "33"
The 33 is the most influential of all numbers. It is the Master Teacher. The 33 combines the 11 and the 22 and brings their potential to another level. When expressed to the fullest, the 33 lacks all personal ambition, and instead focuses its considerable abilities toward the spiritual uplifting of mankind. What makes the 33 es
pecially impressive, is the high level of sincere devotion. This is shown in its determination to seek understanding and wisdom before preaching to others. The 33 in full force is extremely rare. (http://www.decoz.com/numerology-Course-01a.htm)
AND...Number 33, the master healer, is considered to be the number of the avatar by many numerologists. Number 33's symbolism is represented by AA Micahel. (http://john-culbertson.suite101.com/numerology-number-33-the-master...)
Now I am beginning to understand why it is so "rare" from a mathematical standpoint....
The Math:
The fact that the 33 is extra-ordinary demanding and rare can be seen symbolically in the methods of calculation. For example, a 33 Life Path can happen only when:
1. each of the 3 units of the birth date (month/year/day) add to 11.
2. Or when the year adds to 22 (in the 20th century there were only 7 years that add to 22: 1939, 48, 57, 66, 75, 84, and 93) and the month and day of birth combined total is 11.
3. When the Birth Day is 22 and the month and year of birth total 11.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Let's use the second rule--when the year adds up to 22 and the mo/day combo=11..this isn't going to happen for a looooooooooong while...Because...
Take 22 (what the year has to add up to) subtract 2 since the first digit of the year is going to be 2 for a while :) You get 20. So the rest of the digits of the year must equal 20. But you can't get two digits to equal 20. So this knocks out the possibility of a person with a life path of 33 with the year=22 and the mo/day combo=11 for the rest of the 21st century! (right?!?)
Using the first rule, the year must add up to 11. there are only 10 years in the 21st century that add up to 11: 2009, 2018, 2027, 2036, 2045, 2054, 2063, 2072, 2081, 2090. There are only 2 birthdates where the mo=11 and day=11 (November 11th and November 29th). So only 20 possible birthdates for a life path of 33 in a century for this rule.
For the third rule, the birthday=22 and the month/year=11. From 2000-2009 there are 9 times when this could happen, 2010-2019 8 times, 2020-2029 7 times, 2030-2039 6 times..and it decreases from there incrementally by a unit of one until you get to 2090 where this can't happen because the year adds to 11 already, (note the month and year must equal 11). So only 45 possible birthdates (1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9) for a life path of 33 in a century for this rule.
So total in the 21st century, there should be only 20+45=65 birthdays where a suol path of 33 is possible. If we don't count leap years, there are 36,500 days in a century...and if only on 65 days you would be considered to have a life path of 33, then the probability of being born on one of these days is 65/36,500=.00178%!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another way to look at the Master numbers:
The Master numbers 11, 22, and 33 represent a triangle. A triangle of Enlightenment:
The number 11 represents the vision,
The number 22 combines vision with action,
The number 33 offers guidance to the world
What do you think about the life path of 33? What's your Life path?

I agree 100% with you on that John. Nothing is purely deterministic is it? There are so many "if's" "and's" "or's" and "but's" that one thing cannot mean the same thing for everyone. I think these numbers represent potentialities at best...kinda like an algebra problem...x=33 if y=1, z=0 and on and on. (I can' help the math analogies..me love some math. lol) Now everyone seems to think they are a "special case" but I can say that it seems like the 33 is a good match for me given the other items in my chart..I've got a wild n' crazy birth chart. I've had it read three times using three different strategies/traditions...and it always seems to come out as such. (But then again one of my not so positive attributes was to fall victim to the idea that what I'm feeling is so different, strange, etc...). But at least I'm aware of that!
As far as the expression numbers go...I've never put too much stock in them because I've never felt my name is really my name..like it doesn't suit me well at all. My parents switched what they were going to name me a couple hours after my birth, and for some reason I think that's why I just don't feel like my name belongs to me. But I do believe that names carry certain vibrations, and that if we are fully conscious or nearly-conscious :) parents we can sense what the names of our children should be. (i.e. we can pick names that match their vibration) Sounds nutty, but that's what I believe.
I've never really put too much stock into my expression number for this reason. But interestingly my expression number is 11 :) And pretty much fits in with what my readings always tend to get at:
"You tend to be associated with idealistic concepts and spiritual issues.
You have high potentials that are somewhat difficult to live up to.
You have very strong intuition and you can be a bit psychic at times.
Highly inspirational, you can lead merely by your own example.
You have an inborn inner strength and awareness that helps you advise others. <~~there's that "advising" again ;)
Although you have what it takes for a successful career, you belong outside the business world. <~~word.
Overly sensitive and temperamental, you tend to have a lot of nervous tension.
You dream a lot, so much so that you may be more of a dreamer than a doer. <~~double word.
Fantasy and reality tend to get intermingled for you, and that leads to impracticality."
Ok, you made me curious now... Would you mind posting your core numbers that make for a wild chart?
I tend to not really see the expression and related numbers in terms of vibrations, even if it's supposed to be the roots of it. To me it has more to do with synchronicity. Like Astrology and Planet Placement. Where I tend to get stumped is in case like yours when there's a name change. How do you feel about your Heart's desire and Personality number?
Did you check out the chart for the name your parents skipped by the way?
Sorry...I meant my natal chart (astrological)was wild ..should have been more clear. I like to cross-reference with the natal chart...(and the various traditions to interpret that) with numerology to see if they "match up" if you will. But my core numbers are 5-6-1984 born at 6:45ish am. (So I am an 11/22)..and as I said my expression number is 11.
Oooh..i agree with you on the synchronicity with planet placement and such for astrology, but I'm not sure how that works out for names since we have such a large control over them..but no control over where a planet is or what asteroid happens to be flying by at any given time. But with the name change, after looking that over I'm thinking..hmmm..maybe this is the name I'm supposed to have because I really resonate with that reading I posted above. To get it straight though, the name my parents was going to name was even worse. lol. That definitely wasn't a name for me. I guess I just have an issue with my name is because everyone butchers it so I always just shorten anyway and have become more attached to the shortened name.
Heart's Desire (Soul Urge) Number: 3
Personality Number: 17/8
Basically, those two numbers tell me I'm conflicted...because the heart's desire indicates that I'm childish, have a hard time focusing...(True). But my personality number says that I am focused, efficient, a good leader (also true). And this also is echoed in my natal chart--I forget the specific aspects, but I always get "you will be conflicted". I have drive and compassion, but have no idea what to channel it into. I am a dreamer, but I can also do something and lead something if I knew what to lead...so the whole life path of 33 has a big opportunity to go down the pooper if I don't have a place/space to channel this energy into.
Oh, and I didn't check the charts name that my parent's skipped because I'm not sure if they would've stuck with the same middle name. All I know is that they were going to name me Deborah, but then some other baby in the same ward was named Deborah so they changed it :) (Whew)...no offense to those named Deborah ;)
oh..and what is your life path number? Does it "match up" with your expression number?
Thanks a lot for sharing all this SSIMN. 3 and 8 are a great combo. 3 is the number of self expression and 8 of leadership as you pointed out. Basically, it has to potential to turn you into a leader who's a great communicator, and likely with a sense of humor that allows you to handle stress positively. Both vibes combine into something very uplifting for those around you. The pitfall is 3 can sometimes have a procrastinative nature that might get in 8's goal oriented ways.
I have a 11 too as Expression number. Sometimes there's a bit too much overlapping with 7's airy vibes. My workaround is to set deadlines to pressure myself into getting some actual work done.
May I ask what type of job you have or studies you're pursuing? Curious to know how it jives with your LP.
ha..procrastination..he he...my kryptonite. Why do today what can be done tomorrow? ha ha
I'm actually a graduate student who also teaches. I study Sociology and Demography with a special focus on national and international health. I teach research methodology and statistics in the social sciences. I'd like to be a data analyst...buuuuuuut my guides are telling me no no no. I am about a month away from finishing my dissertation and getting my PhD, but I am told that I need to use it for something else. Still trying ot figure out why that is.
SO you see I am at a big fork in the road...and I don't know where to go. And something has been telling me to get to know my birth charts and numerology and all that fun stuff to really see what I'd be good at. SO what's your diagnosis John? he he
I too try to set deadlines..TRY..but I really have to try hard to actually care about them...I am a little too in-the-moment at times...or I want everything now and I hate long projects..*instant gratification please* (which i know, is horrible, but true) How do you see your numbers meshing with your "work"?
I appreciate this conversation John, have a blessed day.
Since your guides/intuition's nudge tells you your PhD isn't the endgame, it may help you to muse over the Pinnacle and Challenge cycles for an outline of your life's journey, and personal Year for near term vibes. There's also the life path period but it's more of a background influence.
If you're not familiar with them, the Pinnacles and Challenges divide our life into 4 periods. The first P/C last (36-reduced LP) years, which makes 33 for you. These years are mainly for training us for the big(ger) job in store for us during your 2nd and 3rd P/C. (Both of these last 9 years, and the final period ends when we're beamed up)
So no worry if you don't feel you're exactly where you should be some day for now.
Tip for interpreting your P/C cycles, don't look at them separately. Tr and figure a storyline that would explain why the lessons are brought to you in this order. For example, if you have a 1 challenge on your First Pinnacle, that's likely to mean you're being groomed to turn into some sort of authority figure in your area of expertise... or that you're going to bump into some that embody the old system over the next period. Likewise, if you have a 3 popping in, you may want to focus on honing your self-expression skills because it's likely to come in handy later on. The Personal years unfold in 9 years cycles. They're pretty neat for giving you a heads up on when significant changes are to happen when you end a cycle. Of course, they can also provide useful insight on whatever year we're in if need be.
I'll let you have a look at your cycles on your own for now. Let me know if you have any question down the road.
I'm still struggling with procrastination myself. The hassle is I mostly pick long term projects and often times, I don't get a sense of having done anything until all is completed. The last trick I can share is to have several projects on the front burner. It lets me procrastinate by switching from one to another depending on my mood. In the long run, work still ends up getting done... OK, now, you're on your own. -winks-
My numbers blend pretty well with my projects now. At the moment, I give computer training to types of audience with self-confidence issues. It allows me to subtly help them work it out, beyond computer stuff. That's quite in tune with my 11 Exp. The 11/7 team is mainly expressed through my other projects.
Let us know how your dissertation goes. You give off a wonderful energy btw.
Thank you for this information John, and the compliment... :) I try to eminate my energy in all I do...ok almost all, let me not tell a fib here :D
But...after reading this post, I though ha...I will get a numerology reading by someone who may know a little more about this than me! And waalaaa, I did it, and Challenge 1 came up like 3 times...geez. It is my 1st, 3rd, and 4th challenge. [What is the significance of that?!!--guess I really am going to struggle with that one].
But all in all, the reading was a confirmation of what has already been communicated to me in a variety of ways throughout my whole life. Dangit. It's like I know what the end game is..I know what I am supposed to do..but I don't know when or how to get there. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to just sit back and wait for the right time to arise or what. It comes in pieces though. Every once in a while someone throws me a puzzle piece...it's s-l-o-w-l-y coming together. But I'm a planner extraordinaire! (yes, I plan despite my procrastination...because how do I spend my time procrastinating? Making plans on how not to procrastinate tomorrow of course---muah ha ha ha--I'm so crazy). And not having a plan to get to this goal is really making me restless. :( But I guess now (according to my report) is supposed to be a time of sacrifice and home-building..which is exactly what is going on in my life right now.
But I feel like all these messages and such is equivelant to someone saying "you are going to be a millionaire some day!--but we aren't gonna tell you when..." But I'm trying to remain patient. My report was really good though as far as accuracy is concerned. I just need to sit and ruminate for a while to see how I can learn and grow from this information.
Much love,
*~somesayimnot~*
Well, the point of this thread is that life path 33 is pretty hard to come by...especially in this millenia (did you check out the math?). That's the whole point of the thread. Comparatively to other life path numbers, and just in terms of probabilities in general--it's pretty rare. I'm not trying to make any claims about being "special"..just kinda blew my mind that there are so few days that someone could be born and have this life path number.
And I also commented exactly what you said here...that it's what you do with it that matters...
I don't put too much stock in one number alone, but it is up to the individual to sift through birth charts, various numerology readings, life experiences, etc to figure out what their mission is..and how to execute it successfully (hopefully)
My intention here is not to create some type of hierarchy over life path numbers..i just simply wanted to show that a) it IS pretty rare to have a life path of 33--comparatively to any other life path number and b) i wanted to hear from others interested in numerology and what they have learned about themselves from it. I am not insinuating that I am special/deserving..but that this just matches so well against so many other experiences in my life. :)
One love,

But I just wanted to say I'm not a numerologist....I can just look up stuff on the internet and in books just as good as the next person :) But here is some info on life path 4:
**basically I keep reading about life path 4's being "builders " of society**
The 4 Life Path is practical and down-to-earth, with strong ideas about right and wrong. You are orderly and organized, systematic and controlled, and you are decisive and methodical, employing a step-by-step rationale approach to problem solving. Once committed, you do not give up easily.
http://www.ofesite.com/spirit/numerology/path4.htm
"You won’t reach for the fleeting things of life. Rather, you’ll settle only for those that’ll reward you with lasting benefits. You have a great head for details and can make even the most boring, mundane jobs pay off with a measure of success. You can keep your head when everyone around you loses theirs. Take this for what it’s worth and channel it properly; persevere when others have tired or lost interest and you’ll receive your just rewards."
http://holessence.wordpress.com/2011/01/25/life-path-4/
The Life Path 4 suggests that you entered this plane with a natural genius for planning, fixing, building, and somehow, with practical application and cerebral excellence, making things work. You are one of the most trustworthy, practical, and down-to-earth of individuals; the cornerstone members of society. Indeed, as a Life Path 4, you are a builder of society.
