Though his books have influences from Catholic religion, that characteristics doesn't lower the value of his books. Please be noted that I'm not a Catholic.
So far, I've read only "Heaven and Hell". (I'm now also reading another book in Japnese, but the book seems to be a different edition from in English.) If you read "Heaven and Hell," you can be able to know better how the reincarnation actually works. I'm much shaked by the descriptions of it. The difference from Emanuel Swedenborg's "Heaven and Hell" is that Cardec's book focuses on each actual individual's experience and there are many bad examples (examples of bad people and how their fates became in the afterlife), and so, they are very very practical and shaking!!!
Anyway, unfortunately, Cardec's "Heaven and Hell" has no Table Of Contents, and I recommend you to skip the former part of the book that treats general theories, and to start with "PART SECOND" ("EXAMPLES") - search the letters using Ctrl+F key in Adobe Acrobat Reader. Finally, I think these books _don't_ have copyrights any longer 'cause they were written in 19th century.

Permalink Reply by Feather Winger on July 30, 2012 at 7:00am do you think that reincarnation ends when we evolve into 5D......after this we can choose where we wish to be born, since karma ends as duality ends.........that is why things are such a mess now, we are burning off and living all of our old karma now.
But, it is good to read this because it gives one a bigger picture of our history,,,,,our personal history.
Thank you for your reply.
Allan Kaldec writes even highly evolved spirits are reincarnate so that they may not forget how humans in their limited body feel, take pain, make efforts, etc.. But, This is not a "forcible reincarnation" that we may experience for compensating for our karma, but, as it were, a "spontaneous reincarnation" with a mission to save or teach people etc.
To my best memory, Silver Birch wrote the same. Does it help?
I sympathize with your later comments.
Drome, you're very welcome.:)
Permalink Reply by Feather Winger on July 30, 2012 at 4:33pm Thank you for a wonderful picture of vortex. In Shinto (I'm a Japanese and familiar with it), a vortex is a symbol of the Divine Creation of the world, just as nebulas are vortexes.:)
